Skiing in Bansko
Bansko is Bulgaria's & Eastern Europe's premier ski resort, having the best and most modern ski facilities following a multi-million euro investment in recent years. Bansko has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15th Dec – 15th April) of all Bulgarian ski resorts. During the last few of years the town has grown with new luxury hotels, apartments and Spa complexes.
The ski areas are located at CHALIN VALOG (1100-1600 m) and SHILIGARNIKA (1700-2600 m). They are easily accessible by the new Gondola lift which starts from Bansko town. The total piste area amounts to 75 km in length and there is a ski road back to Bansko suitable for all levels of skier. The resort is suitable for both beginners to advanced skiers and snowboarders. Also, The Woman's world ski championships have been held here in the last few years. Bansko provides excellent skiing with fantastic value and you won't be disappointed with the night life either with an abundance of Mehanas to choose from.
We would recommend the services of TSAKIRIS Ski and Snowboard Centre which offers discounted ski hire if you stay at the Neon apartments (Ski, poles and boot package 15lv per day). They have a wide range of equipment to cater for all ages and abilities, as well as offering ski and snowboard tuition. TSAKIRIS is at the corner of "Naiden Gerov" and "Pirin" street - at the last traffic light before the lift station, only 3 minutes walk to the gondola. Please ask for Wolfgang or Maria.
